In the atmosphere, oxygen molecules (O2) are decomposed into oxygen atoms (O) by ultraviolet irradiation, and then quickly combine to form ozone (O3).
Ozone is usually light blue in color and is accompanied by a pungent fishy odor.
Ozone has strong oxidizing properties and is a stronger oxidant than oxygen. It can cause oxidation reactions at lower temperatures.
Ozone is also a broad-spectrum and highly effective bactericide. It oxidizes microorganisms without leaving any residue and can be used to purify the air and remove odors.
